SHADIAN — KEEPERS OF TIME
Four generations. One profession. One mission — to bring the hands of time back to perfection.
In the heart of Sofia, where minutes meet craftsmanship, begins the story of a name that carries TIME itself — a name that has become a symbol of precision, trust, and family tradition: SHADIAN.
It all began with Dikran Shadian — a second-generation watchmaker, just like his father. Over the years, Dikran mastered the craft to perfection, becoming one of the most respected artisans in the city. His skills, passed down with love and precision, laid the foundation of a name that stands as a guarantee of quality.
With remarkable dedication, he opened his first workshop in the early 20th century, on the corner of Asparuh Street and Vitosha Boulevard. There, in the very pulse of the city, watches didn’t just tick — they told stories.
His son, Garo Shadian — known as “The Master of Time” — carried the tradition forward. A third-generation watchmaker, he inherited the craft and passion of his father and grandfather. At the age of 10, he disassembled his very first watch under the guidance of his father Dikran — and from that moment, he devoted 68 years to the craft.
Part of Garo’s story was captured in a feature by bTV News: “Life flows by the watch. Whether you laugh or cry — time moves on,” he said. In his small workshop, hidden among the central streets, time seems to stand still — surrounded by over 1000 ticking watches, each with its own soul.
Besides repairing fine mechanisms, Garo also designed and installed tower and facade clocks on buildings, churches, community centers and hotels across Bulgaria — leaving his mark on almost every Bulgarian city.
Today, the fourth generation — Dilyan Shadian — proudly continues the tradition. Together with Garo, they completed specialized training in Switzerland — the birthplace of watchmaking — refining their skills to perfection. In Dilyan’s hands, classical techniques meet modern technology, turning every repair into art.
For ShadiaN, the greatest reward is not simply repairing a watch — but the moment it starts ticking again, after everyone else said it was hopeless. This is the soul of the craft — love for detail, respect for time, and mastery passed through generations.
That is why when we offer watches to our clients, we don’t sell “brands” or showcases. We sell quality from the inside — mechanisms selected by watchmakers who truly know what lies behind every dial. We sell reliability, precision, and a name built through decades of dedication.
We sell quality. We don’t sell names.
